13 Aug | 2012 Entelect Foundation Personalises its Approach
The Entelect Foundation's objective is to Empower South Africa's underprivileged youth through Education. Over the last year a number of high impact schooling concepts were investigated, varying from prototyping teaching aides, to content generation and rewards programmes. In essence we have decided to keep things simple by avoiding "pushing" solutions onto schools that may never use them properly, and will rather focus our efforts on directly assisting who are in need. The programme involves staff putting forward names of needy children that they may have come into contact with. The Foundation, run by Entelect staff, considers the merits of each application and once a child is chosen, commits to seeing through school fees and ancillary support up until grade 12. Coupled with this, the Foundation runs mentorship programmes for these children and their parents on weekends.

Entelect’s engineers all have had the privilege of a quality university education and we believe this is a simple yet effective way of giving back to our communities. The Entelect Foundation currently supports 45 children.  Visit our Press Office for more information.

08 Sep | 2011 Entelect Foundation Launched
The Entelect Foundation is dedicated to empowering South Africa's youth through education. Our inaugural meeting was held on 8 September 2011 where invited committee members were ratified and the path set for formal registration as a not for profit institution. Our focus will be on literacy, numeracy and science training, and we will work with business and government to build a self-sustaining, scalable blueprint that works in a South African context. Initiatives that we are currently working on include the distribution of iEducator to disadvantaged communities together with access providers, investigating the development of robust TV based training units (with teaching content) for mass distribution to schools and low cost tablet technology for distribution to children.
