/News/DisplayNewsItem.aspx?niid=11237

Entelect has launched a powerful new suite of sports management online products, aimed at giving sporting bodies (national, provincial, clubs and event organisers) the tools to enhance their business processes and run their own affairs. The offering is currently broken into Event and Club Management Systems. "This software is unique in that it gives total control to non technical people to set up their online presence and control all aspects of their workflow through the web - including member or entrant management and CRM, database management, online payments, website content management, customised newsletters and SMS's, and a variety of other front and back-office functions facilities", says group CEO Charles Pritchard. "We empower event organisers and sports administrators with powerful self-managing software to run their own affairs - and cut out the expense of bespoke development and support. We have taken a suite of common functions performed by these entities and built our software to support these industries, with a low cost rental and sponsorship model that enables organisations to make use of software that they otherwise could not afford."

Despite the economic downturn in 2009, the Entelect group experienced strong financial performance for financial year ending March 2010. The primary reason for this is that we slowed down recruitment and focused on optimising the software projects, consulting and resourcing businesses. Operationally we also made great strides with our infrastructure, billing, administration and finance divisions. A substantial investment was made in the software products division, which is now performing well and the foundations are there for rapid growth.

Last year was the year of change at Entelect, in particular to accommodate our growth and maturity as a business. We welcome on board our new team of general managers as well as the appointment of Martin Naude to Entelect’s Chief Technology Officer and Shashi Hansjee to Entelect Software’s Managing Director. We are already seeing the benefits of this restructure with an order book that we are battling to keep up with. As before, we are not compromising on quality when it comes to hiring, so will only grow as fast as we can find quality people. Our ethos of providing high quality people and software solutions at competitive pricing continues to deliver results.

/News/DisplayNewsItem.aspx?niid=11244

Comment by Charles Pritchard, CEO of Entelect:
We often hear horror stories about companies appointing a software partner and, many millions of rands later, deadlines are missed and excuses are made for non-delivery. I have personally seen it happen with companies that have invested in good business plans, only to be stumped by a software project gone wrong. With big blue-chip companies who have comprehensive support structures, the same can happen: project deadlines keep getting missed, often with unrecoverable costs to the business.
So how does one go about choosing the right partner to ensure delivery in software projects?

South Africa desperately needs to encourage entrepreneurship as a means to addressing the country’s job creation targets. A report issued by FNB and the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) states that “the most competitive nations are those that have the highest level of entrepreneurial activity.”
The Total Entrepreneurial Activity (TEA) is a measurement of the percentage of the active population in a country (people aged between 25 and 64) who are entrepreneurs. According to International Entrepreneurship, South Africa’s TEA in 2010 is 8.9%. This is higher than in previous years and significantly higher than our average TEA over the past decade: 6.7%. If South Africa wants to be a meaningful player in the global economy, we have to shape education, society and legislation to encourage, rather than stifle, entrepreneurship.
